TODAY IS THE BIG DAY????

Today we find out if Marsh and Krissy are going to
have???........... GOT MILK?..... GOT A GIRL & A BOY?
GOT TWIN BOYS?.....................GOT TWIN GIRLS?
DAD AND I ARE VOTING IT WILL BE
ONE BOY AND ONE GIRL COMING
TO THEIR FAMILY?
Elder Boyd K. Packer said:
"Years ago I visited a school in Albuquerque.
The teacher told me about a youngster who
brought a kitten to class. As you can imagine,
that disrupted everything. She had him
hold the kitten up in front of the children.
It went well until one of the children asked,
"Is this a boy kitty or a girl kitty?"
Not wanting to get into that lesson, the
teacher said, "It doesn't matter. It's just
a kitty." But they persisted. Finally, one
boy raised his hand and said, "I know how
you can tell." Resigned to face it, the
teacher said, "How can you tell?" And
the student answered, "You can vote
on it!" Now what is your vote?

Dessert to Die for...........

I refused to leave Dee's place without a copy of
the recipe for these rolls. They are made with
pudding in the dough, and the frosting is so delicious
I couldn't stop eating it. Now, I know you are all
going to want this recipe.......so as a teaser I am only
going to give you the frosting part. Here goes:
Frosting:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup butter (1 cube)
2 cups powdered sugar
Directions:
Combine brown sugar, butter and cream. Bring
to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Remove
and beat in sugar.
We gave the plate of left-overs to the
Elders' and now they come to visit us every
night on the square.

Valentine's Day

Dessert came from Kneader's Bakery. This Key Lime
pie is a little tart and not too sweet as often is the
problem when eating this kind of pie.

Next, we left for a place called, Caputo. I ordered
an Italian sandwich with one side of the
bread soaked in Balsamic vinegar and the other side
covered with red roasted peppers.

I know this might come as a shock........but Darvin
ordered his basic turkey sandwich........He did leave
his comfort zone just a little, when he ventured next
door to order fries from the Belgium waffle house to
go along with his sandwich. Gotta love that man!

I call this place Little Italy. We are close
enough to walk here from our apartment.
At Caputo's you will find a restaurant......
Deli, and store full of anything Italian you
could ever want. Near the cash register
they sell a large selection of fine chocolates
from around the world. I traveled through
the store tasting the forty brands of olive
oil or Balsamic vinegars in any flavor one
might like. Yum....yum......yum!
They even offer cooking classes on
preparing Italian foods. Their meat
cases are full of items I have never even
heard of. Next time you come to
visit, I'll take you here, but not if your
intentions are ordering a turkey
sandwich.

Lunch with Dee

Can't remember the last time I went to lunch with
someone in Arizona and had to remove the snow
from our car before leaving.

Dee choose Chipotle for our lunch spot today. The
burrito reminded of all the yummy Mexican food
we eat in Arizona. The pictures above are of the
Jordan High where Dee teaches.

The Blessings of Serving......

I love being a missionary with my sweetheart. We
gave a recent tour to three people from Arizona and
one from Texas. Darvin explained, "When we outgrew
the use of the Tabernacle, a new Conference Center
was built across the street that holds 21,000 people."
The visitor said, "You mean you have 21,000 people
in your church? Wow!" Darvin gave her a minute
and then replied, "No, actually we have 14 million
members." The expression on her face was priceless!

Our Flags............

After all these days of gloomy weather........I now
know why the Arizona Flag has so many sun rays
coming out of the star.......
Elder and Sister Sturgis serve here on Temple
Square with us and they are from Oregon. Twice
a week we have dinner together and sure spend
allot of time laughing.....We love these guys!
We just know we are related.........Darvin has a line of
Sturgis names in his family history........so once or twice
a week the men head for the Family History Library
to see if they can connect the dots. Sister Sturgis and
I share books we love devouring........good friends
mean a lot in life, don't they?

LIFE SAVERS MINTS

Darvin and I were laying in bed reading a book and he
said, "Wouldn't you like one of my Life Savers Mint?"
I said, "Not really cause I don't like those candy."
However, to please him I took one out of bag,
unwrapped it and popped it into my mouth.
.......................The next night Darvin says,
"Would you like another candy?" I replied, "Not
really, but if you give me one.....don't give me one like
I ate last night with the center filled in and no hole in
the middle of the life saver."
Darvin jumped out of bed and had this terrible look on
his face. "Rese," he said....."They are having a contest
and if you find the candy with the hole filled in, it is
worth $10,000. You ate the winner!" You know
you can only laugh, because I really hate those
candies........$10,000 or not!

Renda buys me some new earrings....

I love these new earrings Renda bought me.
They dangle nicely and the stone on the
bottom is a gorgeous purple. Now as I look
at this picture, how about a face lift next,
Renda......it looks like I could use one?

Walking off the Desserts......

We do quite a bit of walking on Temple Square.....
15,760 steps to be exact.......I love this Pedometer
Tena bought for us. It takes 10,000 steps a day to
maintain your weight, and 12,000 steps a day to loose
weight..........information from the Mayo Clinic.
A yummy piece of fruit now and then isn't so bad
either. This fruit came from Dee's food co-op and we
enjoyed every bite. In fact, we sat down to share a
pear, and by the time we finished we had consumed
three large, sweet, pears in one sitting.........lucky for
me I will be walking on the Square tomorrow.......

SUNDAY DINNER AT DEE'S PLACE

Dee had us over for Cream of Chicken soup (homemade)
rolls hot out of the oven, with a BLT salad with
a made from scratch lemon dressing. She sent the
leftovers home with us and I made the soup into a
chicken pot pie and served it to the other Senior Couple
serving with us on Temple Square, (the Sturgis). I
think she was impressed with my cooking skills......
thanks Dee you made me look great! One other thing
about feeding the Sturgis.......we played one.........
"Cut Throat" game of Pit after dinner.......and perhaps
that tarnished our image just a bit.....................

Seconds, anyone?

Snowy Day at the Bountiful Temple...

Our goal is to attend every temple
within the 100 mile radius of the
Temple Square Mission. This is the
Bountiful Temple about 15 minutes from
our apartment.......or as Trevor calls
it, "Your Cabin, Grandma!"
