Sister Samuel is serving a mission here on Temple Square. She is from Pakistan. Tuesday she was released from her mission, and on Wednesday she was married in the Salt Lake Temple. Thursday she visited with all of us on the Square, and on Friday she headed to her homeland. Elder Moore and I love you, Sister Samuel! May God shower you with protection, and lots of love.........

When is Spring coming?

The pictures above show what it was like when we
headed to work today. The picture below shows how
it looked when heading home. Bright sunshine, and
clear skies. Our weather is forever changing. In the
North Visitor Center is an area for the missionaries to
put all their extra layers of clothing we wear throughout
the day.
Their is sunshine in my soul today!

Grandpa's Sweet Tooth.......

Deanna loves making her father's favorite treats.
Remember these old fashioned ice cream cones?
I didn't share their cones, but I did have a piece of the
toasted coconut cream pie. Yum

Ever changing weather?

We left for work today knowing the projected high
today is 60, and we walked home in a blizzard. No
umbrella, no way to protect ourselves from the
elements. The Elders thought this was great, and each
tried making snow angels in their suits. Their moms
are going kill them.

Music and the Spoken Word......

Welcome to the 150th Semi-Annual Conference of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you have
ever heard those words spoken....this is the man who
makes that announcement. Some great perks of
serving on Temple Square is seeing Music and the
Spoken Word each Sunday after our Sacrament mtg.
Elder Flatland and Elder Kingston arranged for us to
have our picture taken with Lloyd K. Newell.
Awesome....................
"LIFE MADE RICHER BY FAITH"
by Lloyd D. Newell
Former British prime minister Tony Blair remembers
very clearly the day his faith became personal. When
he was 10 years old, his father suffered a severe
stroke and was rushed to the hospital. Uncertain
if his father would live, he went to school
fearful of the future. His teacher, noticing
his young student's anxiety, suggested that
they kneel and pray for his father's recovery.
Tony Blair hesitantly whispered, "I'm afraid my
father doesn't believe in God."
The teacher's reply made a lasting impression:
"That doesn't matter. God believe in him.
He loves him without demanding on
needing love in return."
Blair's father recovered, and years later
Tony Blair went on to lead Great Britian
during a tumultuous decade. He still points
to that conversation with his teacher
as a pivotal moment in his life. He
realized that his faith gave him a sense
of purpose and direction. He came to see
why faith is so vital to so many people
throughout the world. "Faith matters,"
he says, "because it inspires people to
act and raise their sights beyond
themselves."

DEATH OF THE SWANS...........

At the funeral of Jeffrey Young.....his daughter told this
story: "My father took me Swan hunting one day and
just he and I scouted the area looking for Swans.
Finally, my Father saw 2 beautiful Swans, and told me
to stay put. He then proceeded to crawl about 300
feet to get closer to his prey. After 30 minutes of this,
I heard a gun shot once, than again. Fairly soon after
that my Father came over to where I was at. I asked
him did he get a Swan? He said I shot this beautiful
swan and his head came off....then I quickly took one
more shot and knocked the head off of the other Swan.
My Dad continued....It was at this point, I head a voice
yell, "Hay buddy, those are my decoys you are
shooting!".................My Dad turned to me and said,
"Don't you ever tell anyone, for the rest of your life,
I did this." As soon as my Dad and I got home from
our trip, I called everyone I knew."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUBREE....

Why just yesterday, Aubree, you were roasting hot dogs on
Grandma's grill in her backyard. Now you are all grown
up and dream of boys, and driving cars, and starring in the
school play.......but never forget Grandma's sweetest
memories are of you and the time we shared.........
Aubree is the one on the right in the pale yellow dress.
HAPPY, HAPPY, BIRTHDAY.....I LOVE YOU GIRL!

Death comes to a family member....

Here on the Square, three Senior Couples serve.
The couple to the right of our picture, is Elder and
Sister Young. Their son Jeffrey Young, 44 years
of age, had a massive heart attack and died last
Tuesday. Yesterday was his funeral. He leaves
behind a wife and four children.
Jeffrey was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, golf,
and river rafting. He was an Eagle Scout and loved
serving in the Boy Scout organization. The services
were held at the Perry Stake Center in Perry, Utah.
We love the Young's and are so saddened by their loss.
I just can't imagine how painful to lose a son at such
a young age. We believe the family until goes on forever
and find comfort from this knowledge.

Shopping at Caputo's

Can you come to dinner?

AN EVENING IN LITTLE ITALY.....

Elder Moore was so brave this time and had a
roast beef sandwich instead of his usual
turkey on white bread....Way to go, honey!

Guess which side dish is mine? Hint...hint...it isn't
potato salad, or fresh fruit........It begins with
a top layer of peppers for starters.........

Nothing says "Love" like a husband willing to carry
his wife's purse on the long walk home.

To finish the evening in style, this
Scottish bagpipe player......played a song
he thought we might enjoy. Perhaps,
you have heard it. "I hope they call me
on a mission". He served his mission in
Korea. It was the best evening!

Thursday lunch with Dee...

This week our lunch date found us at Red Robin.
Dad ordered his hamburger with a fried egg
on top. Dee had the spinach chicken
breast wrap with tortilla strips in the
middle. Cantaloupe was the surprise. Who
ever heard of fresh ripe cantaloupe in Feb.?

The snowstorm hit us on Wednesday night, but when the
sun came out it all melted quickly.

TODAY IS THE BIG DAY????

Today we find out if Marsh and Krissy are going to
have???........... GOT MILK?..... GOT A GIRL & A BOY?
GOT TWIN BOYS?.....................GOT TWIN GIRLS?
DAD AND I ARE VOTING IT WILL BE
ONE BOY AND ONE GIRL COMING
TO THEIR FAMILY?
Elder Boyd K. Packer said:
"Years ago I visited a school in Albuquerque.
The teacher told me about a youngster who
brought a kitten to class. As you can imagine,
that disrupted everything. She had him
hold the kitten up in front of the children.
It went well until one of the children asked,
"Is this a boy kitty or a girl kitty?"
Not wanting to get into that lesson, the
teacher said, "It doesn't matter. It's just
a kitty." But they persisted. Finally, one
boy raised his hand and said, "I know how
you can tell." Resigned to face it, the
teacher said, "How can you tell?" And
the student answered, "You can vote
on it!" Now what is your vote?

My favorite Restaurant..........Dee's place

Sunday dinner at Dee's is a Valentine's theme.
Beef stew, rolls, homemade cinnamon rolls, and
red sparkling cider.......
