Fun with the Sister Missionaries

Sister Walshe is from Melbourne, Australia.
She received her degree in fashion design
before leaving to serve a mission. She put her
skills to good use, and designed a wedding
dress for her best friend, just before leaving
to serve. This dress was such a hit that
a magazine there in Australia wanted to
publish a picture of it. They offered to fly her
to their city and interview her for the article.
She politely told them that she was now
pursuing other activities and would not
be able to come.


Each of the Sister Missionaries wear a badge
with a copy of her country's flag just below
her name. Elder Moore's new badge now
reads, "Sister Beecroft, from the
United States", and mine reads,
"Sister Sundaran from India". Somewhere
in the Beehive House a sister is running
around with a badge that reads,
"Elder Moore". Some days we just
wanna have fun...............

This is the desk I work at. Each tour we take

we list how many people came, and where

each visitor is from. We have 5 million visitors

a year, and 1.5 million of those visitors arrive

between Thanksgiving and the 1st of January.

items stacked from the floor to the ceiling.

Fall is in the air

Love the fall time in Utah. Every morning

more leaves change colors. We are

bracing for the colder weather ahead.

Lunch with Dee at Paradise Bakery

The weather was cold and rainy for this lunch

date. I tried the vegetarian sandwich, and it

was great! I finished off my lunch with carrot

cake to go. I can't tell you how much fun

we are having finding a different place to

eat with Dee on our P-days. It is such

a great downtime activity for us. I believe

they call that "Comfort Food".

The Flowers are gone.........

On Saturday a couple of stakes brought their

youth to help removed all the summer flowers.

They filled two large dumpsters with flowers.

All day we could smell fresh dirt as we went from

tour to tour. The carpets in the Beehive House

are pretty dirty from the dark black soil.

This is our outdoor lunchroom/wedding reception
area for the Lion House next door. The Lion
House is connected to the Beehive House. Today we
ate our sandwiches, and let the orange/brown
leaves cover our laps from the trees above.
Next week we are adding soup to our lunch
menu. Yum!

The tulip bulbs are planted, and now the

pansies go in next.............

Happy 81st Birthday...........

Sacrament will never be the same..

We attend church in the Joseph Smith

Memorial Building at 7:30 am.

On Sundays we only have sacrament meeting,

but we usually have five speakers. At 8:45

we all head to our jobs at the Beehive House or

Temple Square.

Homes surrounding the Draper Temple

Draper is a little higher elevation so you

can see the fall leaves on the mountainside.

This chapel is on the same property as the temple.

A Visit to the Salt Lake Cemetery......

We spent our P-day looking for each

of the Prophet's head stones.

Darvin's holding the map as we search for

the names.....President Kimball had the most

unusual head stone. It never mentioned

that he was the Prophet, and on each

side of his stone was a piece of petrified wood.

I'm sure that was from Arizona.

Visit to the Draper Temple.........

On one very cold, rainy, fall day, we
head to the Draper Temple nearby.
We are about 25 miles from this
place.

The sessions are on the hour, every hour,

and held about 48 people per session. The

murals on the walls were unbelievable. I

can't wait to see what they will put up for

the Gilbert Temple. We met a

visitor the other night and she worked

with a group of painters who were

submitting their work for the Gilbert

Temple. She was currently working on

murals for the San Salvador Temple,

as they did receive the bid for that temple.

Conference Sunday Dinner

Deanna gave me this recipe for one quick

Sunday meal......in a two quart slow-cooker place

one small beef roast, sliced or cubed

potatoes, onions, and baby carrots. Pour

about 1/4 bottle of Italian Dressing over all

items and cook for all day on low or

four hours on high if the meat is

frozen. We used very little meat,

and mostly vegetables. This is a meal for two

so if you are using a large slow cooker, I'd use the

entire bottle of dressing. Cooking this meal

made the whole apartment complex smell

great!

LETTERS FROM HOME....

We love hearing from all you guys.

Our refrigerator and walls don't look quite

so bare as before.

In our apartment we have a new refrigerator

and stove. That's nice.....but much nicer now

that it has art gracing its doors.

Monday Dinner

Everyone contributed to this meal. Canned

green beans from Krissy, Spaghetti sauce

canned from Dee's garden. The cheese bread

is a recipe Nikki sent me recently. Love, Love it!

CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD

Dressing:

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup reduced-lemon mayonnaise

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 small garlic clove

This is the dressing for the salad, but I

increased the cheese and used it for

my cheese bread.

The next day I made the salad and I

willl tell you it is now one of my

all time favorite meals. It was so quick

and healthy too. Call Nikki for the

recipe. You'll thank me later.

Thanks family, we thought of you

as we sat down for lunch today.

200,000 PEOPLE COME FOR A VISIT......

During Saturday and Sunday we had

200,000 extra visitors on Temple Square. As a

mission we set a goal to have 5,000 names to give

to missionaries to teach around the world. We got

5,783 names of people the missionaries can now teach.

Wow! The entire mission met in the tabernacle

to see if we made our goal or not. We certainly

did! President Holmes said, "You can have pizza

for lunch for the next two days, and sleep

in until 9:00am."

Honestly, the sisters were more excited about

sleeping in than eating the pizza! To put this in

perspective there are only 53,000 missionaries

world wide and we just got 5,783 names for them

to teach. Amazing..................

Darvin and I went for a walk after our shift on

Sunday, and before our meeting Sunday night.

We found these two cats looking out the window.

To appreciate what these cats are doing, you must

realize how high up these windows were.
