Women's Conference

The Senior Couple Missionaries that serve on
Temple Square (only three of us). The
husbands ran the tours while the three
of us attended Women's Conference.
I sure had a cute outfit on, but what
a bad hair day!

All missionaries serving on Temple Square
received their own special ticket for this event.
Our seating was in the middle section about
thirty rows back. Incredible seats.

P-Day Lunch with Dee at Rubi's Cafe.....

Our first P-Day (preparation day) we spend
having lunch with Dee. Her school is only
30 minutes from our apartment. Dee is
introducing us to the local restaurants. Yum!
I highly recommend the Mango Salsa. If I
wasn't a missionary, I would dance on the table.

This week we tried Five Guys and Fries. The
fries were hot and delicious, and the buns
yummy! It is a good thing we walk lots of
miles everyday. Dee could eat all she wanted
as she just finished running a 1/2 marathon
in Cedar City last weekend. She ran thirty
minutes faster than her best time. Her next
1/2 marathon is Halloween weekend. I was
going to run that with her. Who could have
guessed I'd be on my mission at that
time? Not, me!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT!!!

THE MISSIONARY CLOSET

I don't know but it just doesn't get much more
exciting than this! Some days Elder

Moore has to walk outside to see if his jacket
is navy blue or charcoal gray while trying to
match the pants to the coat. However, I will
say he is one good looking man by the time
he leaves our apartment in the morning.
The Sister Missionaries are instructed they
can only shake his hands, no hugs.
That is my job!

lion house

We are starting our day here in Salt Lake
City at the Lion House. This is the
restaurant next door to where we
work. Lots of activities going on this
morning and on Temple Square because
the Governor of Utah is coming
to speak, and a special breakfast is
being held here for him. Our
invitation was lost in the mail.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

Darvin wanted me to show the
family he finally found his tennis
shoes, so whoever started the
collection for new shoes for him
can now stop..........

We found where the sidewalk ends.
Who would have thought it was in
Salt Lake City, Utah?

Grandma's Shoes..........

Our Sunday mornings are just a little bit different
from the ones back home. We attend church
in the very ornate Joseph Smith Building along with
206 Sister Missionaries. The service last 1 hour and
each week Darvin blesses the sacrament. There are
only six men to help with this portion of the service.
The services are so quiet that when I turn my
pages in the scriptures, I can hear that echo
throughout the building. When you partake of the
sacrament you hear the sound of putting the cups
back in the tray. In addition, I can't describe
the spirit in this room, as everyone here
is here to serve the Lord, and have paid their
own way to do so. Sisters from Tonga,
Columbia, India, Austria, Canda, France, etc.
The talks are by the youth, and very spiritual
in nature. I wanted to make a good impression
for my first Sunday here. I wore a long lace skirt
with my new shoes. However, I didn't realize
until arriving home that my shoes
didn't match. Ugh! (so much for a good
impression)

Unusual Church Bldg.

These are historic church buildings in our
area. The top building is still in use today.
This is where the 19th Ward hold their
services. One ward per building..........

Our Apartment

We hope to soon decorate the walls.

Our little love nest close to Temple Square.
Please come visit.....lots of good conversations,
but not much space. Our laundry area
is one building over. Darvin said, "Rese,
I think I should show you where the
laundry room is." I replied, "I don't think so."

Only in Utah

Signs like these don't exist in
Arizona, right? This morning when
we ran, we saw a homeless guy by
this park. He had no shirt on, and
long jeans. By his side he carried a
white sack lunch bag, and he picked
up objects off the sidewalk as we
passed by him. Only problem, there
weren't objects on the sidewalk.
At Temple Square they have a
program where they help the
homeless get into shelters and
find food and clothing. I
understand it is a great program.

The day you leave the Missionary
Training Center, they hang this
sign on your door.

Our dorm room we leave behind. At 1:30pm
we head for our new home. The Garden
Apartments in Salt Lake City. It
is on the west side of the Conference
Center. Let the adventure begin!

Grandpa makes a fashion statement..

Our first P-Day arrives and
we head for the hills to get one
fast run in during the cool
morning hours. Now my sons,
does Dad outfit remind you of
the days he always took you
golfing? He claims he dressed
this way,because he couldn't
find his tennis shoes, but
personally I think he loves the
look!
